Why should I choose an independent Speech and Language Therapist?
There is no difference in the training or qualifications of an independent therapist and an NHS therapist. However, NHS waiting times tend to be longer for both assessment and therapy. I am able to see your child more frequently and offer sessions at a time to suit you (e.g. after nursery/school or on Sunday mornings).
Do I need a referral from my child’s GP or nursery/school?
No, you can refer your child yourself! Contact me via Georgia.maurice26@gmail.com or 07506080049 for a free initial consultation.
How many sessions will my child or young person need?
This will depend on your child/young person’s individual needs, the nature of their communication difficulty and response to therapy. I typically recommend having an initial therapy block of 4-10 sessions and then a break; followed by a phone review 6-8 weeks later to discuss whether another block of therapy should be carried out. You are free to withdraw from therapy at any time.
How can I find out if a therapist is registered?
I am registered with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP) and with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). You can check that I am registered by visiting each professional bodies website through the links above.
